Tamara Schuh Hansen, CPA, MBT

Managing Partner

I grew up on the peninsula. I have lived here since I was three years old. My father was an engineer, my mother a stay-at-home mom. Both parents are deceased. I have no siblings. I attended Pedregal elementary school, which is now Cornerstone. I attended Malaga Cove Intermediate School and Rolling Hills High – class of 1974. I started working at Mayer’s Bakery in the Peninsula Center when I was 16. I worked at Finley’s Jewelry Store, Buffum’s Department Store, Wetherby Kaiser Shoes  (all previous Peninsula Center stores), Montemalaga Elementary School (as a lunch supervisor), Long’s Drug Store (now CVS), and finally ended up as a postal carrier for the Palos Verdes Post Office – all  while  attending  high school and college. I attended Cal State University Dominguez Hills and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1979. I earned my Master in Taxation from Golden Gate University, finishing in 1992.

I began my accounting career with Price Waterhouse in the downtown Los Angeles office in 1979. After spending two years in the tax department with them, I moved to a smaller firm here in Palos Verdes (Simon, Steemke and Company on Deep Valley Drive across from the Palos Verdes Library). I became a CPA in 1983 and bought a successful tax practice from a retiring accountant (Abrams and Schneider also located on Deep Valley Drive). I have been a practicing tax accountant since 1983.

My door is always open. I am always accepting new clients. I occasionally make “house calls” to some of my older clients who can no longer travel easily.  I encourage my clients to call me first before making tax related decisions so we can be “pro-active” rather than “re-active” and discuss possible options before they make their final decisions. My office handles all accounting and tax related needs. I have some clients for whom I am their “behind the scene” office – I do their accounts receivable billing, pay their bills, keep track of their bookkeeping, do banking and  account reconciling, and field calls relating to just about every aspect of their business.  Some clients I see once a year, some clients I see a few times a week. It just depends on their needs. I can be as available as necessary to get the job done. I prepare all types of tax returns: individual, business, fiduciary and non-profit.
